Participant Terms & Safety Information

Welcome, and thank you for joining a Land & Legend Trails experience. Our walks and tours are designed to be relaxed, friendly and enjoyable outdoor experiences that connect people with Ireland’s landscapes, history, folklore and culture.

The following information is intended to help ensure the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all participants.

1. Nature of Activities

Land & Legend Trails provides guided outdoor walking experiences which may include:

  • coastal paths and promenades

  • trails, woodland paths and upland terrain

  • uneven, wet or slippery ground

  • hills, steps, exposed sections or rough surfaces

  • walking after dark on selected night hikes

  • changing weather conditions

Participants should understand that outdoor activities involve a degree of inherent risk which cannot be completely eliminated.

2. Participant Responsibility

By taking part in a Land & Legend Trails experience, participants confirm that they:

  • take part voluntarily and at their own discretion

  • are responsible for assessing their own fitness, health and ability to participate

  • will follow the instructions and safety guidance of the guide at all times

  • will behave in a respectful and considerate manner towards the group, the environment and members of the public

  • understand that routes, timings or plans may need to change due to weather, safety or operational reasons

Participants are responsible for ensuring they wear suitable clothing and footwear appropriate to the conditions and activity.

3. Health & Medical Information

Participants should not take part if they have any condition, injury or illness that may affect their safety or the safety of others during the activity.

Any relevant medical conditions, injuries or concerns that may reasonably affect participation should be communicated to the guide before the activity begins.

Participants remain responsible for carrying any personal medication they may require.

4. Weather & Outdoor Conditions

Irish weather and outdoor conditions can change quickly. Walks may proceed in wet, windy or cold conditions unless the guide determines that conditions are unsafe.

Land & Legend Trails reserves the right to:

  • modify routes

  • shorten activities

  • delay start times

  • cancel experiences

  • refuse participation where safety concerns arise

This includes situations involving unsuitable clothing, footwear, behaviour, intoxication or inadequate equipment.

5. Night Hikes & After-Dark Activities

For night hikes or after-dark experiences, participants may be required to carry suitable lighting such as a head torch or flashlight.

Reduced visibility, uneven terrain and changing weather conditions require additional care and attention during these activities.

Participants must remain with the group and follow all guide instructions throughout the experience.

6. Environmental Responsibility

Land & Legend Trails promotes responsible enjoyment of the outdoors and encourages Leave No Trace principles.

Participants agree to:

  • respect wildlife, farmland and local communities

  • leave no litter

  • avoid unnecessary disturbance or damage

  • follow guidance relating to environmental protection and trail etiquette

7. Photography & Social Media

Photos or short video clips may occasionally be taken during experiences for promotional or social media purposes.

Participants who do not wish to appear in photographs should advise the guide at the start of the activity.

8. Limitation of Liability

Land & Legend Trails takes reasonable care in planning and delivering safe and enjoyable experiences. However, participants acknowledge that outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including the risk of slips, trips, falls, weather-related hazards and other unforeseen circumstances.

To the fullest extent permitted under Irish law, Land & Legend Trails accepts no liability for:

  • loss or damage to personal belongings

  • injuries arising from risks inherent in outdoor activities

  • actions taken contrary to guide instructions or safety advice

Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

9. Acceptance of Terms

By booking or participating in a Land & Legend Trails experience, participants confirm that they have read, understood and accepted these Participant Terms & Safety Information.

For group bookings, the lead traveller confirms acceptance of these terms on behalf of all participants included in the booking.
