Night Walking & Guided Night Hikes
There’s something unforgettable about stepping onto a hill as daylight fades.
As the sun sets and darkness settles, familiar landscapes take on a different character. The noise drops away. The air feels cooler and clearer. Your senses sharpen. Night walking isn’t about distance or speed — it’s about atmosphere, awareness, and experiencing the land in a quieter, more elemental way.
Where We Walk
Our night hikes take place on carefully chosen routes in Dublin and Wicklow with open views, safe terrain, and well defined paths. Depending on conditions, locations may include:
Djouce – A broad, open summit with wide views over Lough Tay and the Wicklow Mountains, ideal for watching the last light fade.
Maulin – A gentle, accessible hill with sweeping perspectives across Dublin Bay.
Ballinastoe Woods – Forest trails where torchlight filters through trees and sound carries differently after dark.
Fairy Castle – A dramatic high point above the city, offering incredible evening skylines and big sky views.
The Spinc – Boardwalk trails overlooking the Upper Lake in Glendalough, atmospheric and unforgettable at dusk.
Great Sugar Loaf – A distinctive peak with clear paths and rewarding twilight panoramas.
Each route is selected with safety, group ability, and weather conditions in mind.
What to Expect
We walk at a steady, relaxed pace. Headtorches are used when needed, but we also allow time for our eyes to adjust naturally. On clear evenings, we may pause to look at the stars. On misty nights, the hills feel wilder and more mysterious. Either way, the experience is immersive.
Along the way, there’s space for:
Quiet reflection
Conversation and shared stories
Local folklore shaped by darkness
Moments without artificial light
These hikes are suitable for beginners and families (typically 12+) with a reasonable level of fitness.
Safety & Planning
All night walks are:
Carefully risk assessed
Led by a qualified and experienced guide
Limited to small groups
Weather dependent
A full kit list is provided in advance, including headtorch requirements. If conditions are unsuitable, the walk will be rescheduled.
The hills don’t switch off when the sun goes down — they simply reveal another side of themselves.
Join us and experience Wicklow in a way most people never do.
